We support young adventurers with a passion to experience, live, learn, teach, and serve in the great outdoors.

Our Mission

We provide need-based scholarships for wilderness medicine programs, career counseling and programming for those who want to work in nature, and equitable access to the outdoors for young people.

Our Impact

Since our inception in March 2023, we have awarded grants totaling $87,500 to our partner organizations, the National Outdoor Leadership School(NOLS) and Elevate Youth. We have also committed over $60,000 in funding to these organizations annually for 2026 and beyond. The Murphy family is proud to cover all administrative expenses ensuring 100% of every donation goes to serving our mission.

We currently fund two need based scholarships through NOLS. The first, established in 2023 supports young adults pursuing wilderness medicine certificates and/or outdoor career pathways. The second, started in 2026, sends underserved Boston-area high school youth on a NOLS summer course. We also continue to fund Elevate Youth’s new Youth Leaders program. To date, funding has been provided to 13 NOLS students and over 20 Elevate Youth Leaders. Through these grants, we honor Jack’s love of the outdoors by providing transformative experiences to a wide range of people.

Our Partners

With your support, the Jack Murphy Foundation is helping these two great organizations foster the next generation of environmental stewards.

"NOLS is a nonprofit global wilderness school and the leading source and teacher of wilderness skills and leadership that serve people and the environment. The Jack Murphy Foundation has stepped forward to partner with NOLS by supporting financial aid for students seeking to pursue a career in outdoor education who wish to take courses along their career path–classes such as, but not limited to: wilderness medicine certification, rescue or outdoor educator semesters, and other courses designed to enhance specific skill development.”
"Now more than ever, we need to invest in the next generation of diverse environmental stewards and offer essential opportunities for our young people to reach their full potential. Our goal is to equip and encourage young people to be effective environmental advocates and conservation leaders in their homes and communities. With the Jack Murphy Foundation, the Elevate Youth Leaders program aims to elevate our community, break down barriers of access to the outdoors & create a more inclusive and diverse home planet."
